Los Angeles Gas Price: $4.19 a gallon in case you're interested

Price of gas today was 4.19 a gallon for Premium, $3.95 Regular in Los Angeles.

I know nobody west of the Rockies is interested, but the price of gas was $4.19 at a busy intersection just off the 101 Ventura Freeway in the San Fernando Valley.

Someone please let the President's advisers know. I'm sure they'll be sure to pass the message along to the Decider right away.

Thanks.

Also, the heat wave is over and temps will be dropping down from 90 degrees to something more seasonal (and descent), like the mid 70's.

Update on our girl at 5303 Lankershim Blvd, Bank Heist

I decided it was time for an update on the recovery of one of my favorite buildings in North Hollywood.

The Lankershim Bank building, or Bank Heist building suffered a terrible fire in January and is now undergoing restoration.

The building is now wrapped up in scaffolding and plywood.

It looks like they have finished replacing all the glass in the windows.  The bottom story windows seem to all be intact. I'm glad to Fire Department was a able to save them.

The architectural elements on the outside of the building all seem to have survived intact.  Although, it's not as bright and shiny as before.  The smoke from the fire has added a patina to the white stone, bringing out the carved details like tarnish on good silver.

Yes, the blue tiles underneath the roof are still OK.  Here they are seen through a small gap in the plywood.

Did you know the old Bank Building in Highland Park could be her lost twin sister?

Did you know she has her own Myspace page?

I'm going to update my page on her on AngelCityArt to include these after photos with my before ones.

Cool Adobe Architecture in LA, at the Blue Adobe

I was driving around Old Reseda the other day and spotted this gem.

I have a soft spot for these cute little old adobe-style houses. The tile roof, the deep set windows, the blue paint.

What? I love the blue paint.

It is hidden behind a fence covered with a neon bright bougainvillea vine and a some fruit trees. Very fun.

Reseda Theatre to be Rescued and Renovated

The old Reseda Theatre on Sherman Way in Reseda has fallen on hard times lately.

It has been vacant for quite some time but now it is to be purchased and renovated.

I HOPE they keep the cool art deco feel and plug the neon back in too!  If not, at least give us the chance to save it from the dumpster.

I'm willing to pitch in on a Bake Sale so the Museum of Neon Art can buy it.

They're trying to renovate the old main drag on Sherman Way.  It worked for NoHo, maybe it'll work here.  Here's an article from an LA someTimes newspaper...

Visit the Pasadena Showcase House for Architecture Buffs Starting This Weekend

Starting this weekend you can visit the Pasadena Showcase House.

This year's beauty queen was built in the Spanish Colonial Revival style in 1922.  It was based on a Spanish castle in a Moorish design and features heavy, carved wood doors, sparkling chandeliers and jaw-dropping ceilings.

The gardens are multi-level and have fountains and streams with bridges.

Ahhhh!  One day!!

They will be giving home and garden tours during the week and on weekends from April 20 to May 18.  Read more on their website...

Sunday was a beautiful day for a Dodger game

It was a beautiful day for a baseball game on Sunday. Yeah, I'm a little late on the post, but I've been having connectivity 'issues' and the dialup wasn't cutting it. I promise to get back on track....

The Dodgers played the Padres and lost.  But who cares?  It's fun to get out, have some baseball food and root, root, root for the old home team.  The Peanut Man was there too.

Dodger Stadium has undergone another renovation.  The loge section has a new front court with a 50's themed environment and LOTS of places to buy licensed products (cute, but expensive).

You are able to get delicious grilled Dodger dogs in more places now and I hear they are going to redo the entire concession area on the loge level this off-season.  If you are tired of dogs, there are plenty of licensed food products for you to buy.  The only complaint I have is the entire stadium smells like garlic fries now.

Tommy Lasorda was there too!  He was smiling and letting people take his picture.  Nice guy.
He's the guy in the white shirt in the corner getting a sunburn.  Would someone please get our Dodger Legend an umbrella???

Cherry Blossoms in Print, new store art

I liked the way the cherry tree photos turned out so well I turned them into cards for my store.

Pink Cherry Tree Landscape Art
Pretty pink cherry trees seem to dance across a green lawn. Framed with Japanese vector design elements in pink and white. This design comes on art card, postcards, custom postage and a few other items like mousepads.
